NUVO PLAY HOUSE

The Nuvo Playhouse is a Concept North Seattle Theater, committed to engaging the community through Theatre that aims to bring us together. The name “NUVO” is in reference to the Art Nouveau movement during the industrial revolution. While the world was going through extraordinary changes in terms of machines, crafted goods that emphasized beauty in the natural world exploded. We are going through another mass turning point in our world with social media and being overly connected but not in a meaningful way. We believe that theater can only help to bring us back together.

Our target audience is the Art community in the vicinity of North Seattle But would also love to reach beyond. We want to get to know our neighbors, work together and provide entertainment that causes conversation. The talent in Seattle is enormous and it doesn’t get cultivated nearly enough so we would look to our local community for support.

According to PsyPost referencing a new study in the Journal Experimental Social Psycology , “live theater can boost empathy and pro-social behavior.” In the study, Participants went to see shows where the lives on the stage were different from their own and overwhelmingly those surveyed after the show were more empathetic to the groups depicted. This is the exact work we want to participate in.
