Form is dedicated to advocating for youth in sports. Since 2020, legislation has been introduced and passed both federally and statewide to ban trans kids from playing in educational sports that align with their gender. This is all under the guise of protecting cis women when there is no proof that trans athletes are “stealing” victories or harming their teammates. Having the opportunity to play team based sports is incredibly influential and important to physical and mental growth no matter what gender one aligns with. Trans kids are kids too and deserve equal rights and protection under the law. Form takes a three pronged approach to fighting for youth equality: inform the public, reform the laws and transform the conversation.

If our media eco-system accurately reported data and statistics about trans youth in sports, there would be no problem. In fact, given that there are probably less than 10 kids in the entire United States actively fighting to play sports that align with their gender, that statistical anomaly should never make front page news. Form has taken on the mantle of spreading actual stories of trans youth and answering the most asked questions. This takes the form of a booklet that can be given out to anyone who says “Well I just haven’t done the research” or is curious about learning more about how to support trans youth during this time. The booklet features articles by trans athlete Chris Moiser and other writers who’s work has been to dispel misconceptions around trans participation is sports.
The second pillar of Form is to actively challenge the laws that are being tried. This required a creation of a website to house all of the calls to action and collect donations that will fund legal challenges. The website will also house a store for merchandise as well as curated media that can be shared on social media. Form.com wants to make it easier to direct people in however they want to make a difference whether that be a donation or a the perfect article to send to your friend who seems curious about supporting.
The third pillar of Form is changing the message. So many advertisements and media take hold due to fear mongering. By designing the “I Am A Teammate” campaign, Form intends on spreading the messaging that when we win when we play together. This initially was a hurdle because if the goal is fitting in, how do we make our messaging stand out. That is why it was integral to make sure this campaign is upbeat and positive, and the focus is that everyone has the right to play.
