The Backstage Kit is made to contain must-haves for actors backstage with a cheeky twist. This gender neutral kit contains seven essentials that should either be supplied to actors back stage or be bought when working on a show. Each item is branded with a specific theatre trope to illustrate all the various cast of characters that make up a theatrical experience. Items include: The Diva (vocal lozenges to keep the voice up to snuff), The Leading Man (a towel to alleviate the sweat from stage lights),The Chorus Girl (bobby pins to keep hair up or to make sure your wigs stays in place), The Showmance (tooth paste and toothbrush to make sure your kisses on- and off- stage are fresh), The Ingenue (Tissues to dab away happy opening or sad closing tears) and lastly The Drag Queen (make-up wipes to wash away the show before leaving the theatre).
When designing this kit our main goal was to gather things that are most needed at an actors station backstage. Companies could buy this to supply to their actors on the first day on stage or the amateur actor could use this to help build their broader kit. It was very important to us to make this gender neutral because while it plays on classic tropes we hope that this kit could be used by all ages for all types to preforming. The final touch of the kit is the mirror on the inside just in case there actors are preforming in non-traditional spaces with either none or limited access to a be able to check your reflection.
